New Shelter House in Progress!!!!!
Thank you to Ed Richardson of Clarence Cycle for donating materials for the new shelter house! A special thank you to Jim Johnston for the extra work put into the grounds, shelter house and pits.
Watch Out!!! Here we Come!!!
The Clarence Horseshoe Club had a great day working in the park. The turnout was awesome!!! We will be throwing shoes before you know it! The plans are in motion and we will be able to boast on having a great pitching area for MOHPA and NHPA pitchers as well as beginners, intermediate, and you A Class veterans! We would love for you to join us! Visit the Contacts page and submit the form!
Day Two in the Rain!!!
You would not believe the help that come again on day two! It was a wet, rainy day and the rain was not going to stop! Wade Liebhart, our first elected President, is here washing his hands in a nearby ditch. Second thought, he may just be playing in the water getting out of work, not sure. Wade has pitched shoes for several years now and has many trophies and plaques to show for it! Get ready Wade, it looks like there are several members signing up and ready to steal your thunder!!!
If you see this guy, tell him thanks for the score boards with drink holders!!!
Jim Johnston made the pit scoreboards for the club. We can actually sit our drinks in the stand while we're shooting! Yes, they will hold coolie cups! Jim has spent 3 days working in the park trimming trees, setting fence post and helping with the pits as well! Thank You Jim!!!
Sitting down on the job!
Meet our Director!
It doesn't look like Kent Tate is working, however he has spent two full days working on the fence post, trimming trees and helping with the pits! Kent and Jim have been working in the park for the last 2 days, getting everything ready for a great workday! Kent is also our first elected director of the club! Thanks so much for all your help Kent!
Are We Good or What?!
Meet our first elected Vice President, Eric Greenwood. Eric skimmed the dirt a level 4" (or so) and made a track to success!! Lets see how the rolled sod fits back in to the pit when we're done! We want to say thank you to Eric and Patty Greenwood of Greenwood Farms in Anabel, MO for the donation of fencing needed to complete our court! Eric has been working at the court moving dirt for 2 days and it looks great! Thanks for digging the pad area for "REGISTRATION"!!!
That had better be level!!!
Here is Trevor Liebhart working on the pitching pads! They are working hard to be able and pour the concrete the same day! Trevor has been pitching shoes on and off for several years. He has won several tournments and has moved up to the "B" class. Trevor has been one of the younger players up until now, there are several getting on the band wagon to pitch! We are so excited about the Clarence Horseshoe Club! I know it will be a great success!
Build it, they will come!!!
Hard at work!!! Larry Hartgrove, member, and Roger Johnston, member are helping with the pit forms. With all the awesome help, we will be pouring concrete today! I must say, so far, I would put our members up for the "Best Club in the World Award", if there was one! I can't express enough all the help and teamwork that went on that Aug.15th day in the park! We are so glad to have the members that signed that day! What a fun group!!!
Look! We are pouring concrete!!!
No problem with this group! Pits dug, forms built, concrete here!!! Bill Hall, hiding in the orange shirt pouring the concrete has been a huge help! Bill asked the city for permission and come to a few of us with the idea of putting together a horseshoe club. This idea was brought to us and we met in the park on August 2, 2009. In less than 2 weeks, we have put together a club of 13 members and counting, built the pits and will be ready for our opening member shoot by August 28th. Now that is amazing!!! For Schedules of our events, just go to the events page!
I'm glad Josh brought Jesse along!
Wow Jesse, thanks for your help, you are a good worker! Now you be sure and get some shoes so you can show your dad how it's done! Josh, you better watch it, if Jesse joins, he may be some competition for you!!! Go Jesse!!!
Nothing like working in the Rain!
Wow! Talk about dedication!!! Kent Tate, Josh Greenwood, Jesse Greenwood and Jim Johnston working on the fence. You are not going to stop these guys from pitching shoes. You know, I wonder if they get this excited and motivated with the yard work at home? I seriously doubt It! Thanks guys, you are super and have done a great job!
Just about to wrap it up!
Kent Tate, Jim Johnston and Eric Greenwood working on the closure of the fencing! After the fence is completed, all that is left is the cleanup and planting of the grass seed! We will be ready for our first league play on August 28th. Guys, I have to say, you all are AWESOME!!! The way you have put this thing together in no time is WONDERFUL!!!
Somebody's spoiling this President!!!!
Now how many of you know of someone being elected president of a club, and then have a member to make him his own personal gavel and base??? This base is also special, there have been springs put inside so when Wade hits the gavel to the base it will be twice as loud!!! Now you ask, "Who is this master minded member"? It is some more of Jim Johnston's handy work!!! We want to know why Wade is so special?!!
League Night August 28, 2009 Certificate Winners!!!
League Night Aug. 28, 2009
We had a great turnout for our first league night! I know everyone had a lot of fun. 1st. Place was Wade Liebhart, 2nd. Place Kent Tate, 3rd. Place Jim Johnston. Our youngest player cert. went to Kaylee Johnston and our "I Tried" cert went to Josh Greenwood. Trevor and Josh were in close running for this award. Can't wait to see who ends up with it next league night! Thanks for being such a great sport Josh!!! Now last but not least, our Rookie award went to Jim Johnston. Everyone had a great time and ready for next league.
Wow! It is unbelievable who we allow in our club!
We are still trying to figure how these two were allowed to be club members. We have got to get some strict regulations on who we let in. Actually, Trevor Liebhart and Roger Johnston are pretty good players. The competition gets a little rough between these two sometimes. Roger ended with the upper hand on the 1st. league night, however Trevor is ready for another showdown.
Some Stiff Competition!!!
Josh Greenwood and Wade Liebhart playing in pit #1. This is their first league night and everyone is working on their game. There will be one more league night before the Sept. 12th tournament. Practice Up Boys!!!
